Clinical Associate Professor Lisa Ann Simmons is a general cardiologist and Director of the Echocardiography Laboratory at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.
Particular areas of expertise are valvular heart disease, echocardiography and stress echocardiography and optimising maternal cardiac status during pregnancy.
Lisa provides assessment for the structural heart program and guidance during procedures, including for mitral and tricuspid clipping, at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and Macquarie University Hospital.
Lisa qualified at the University of Cape Town Medical School, graduating with the class medal in 1990. She completed her specialist training in cardiology at the Alfred Hospital, Melbourne in 1997, and a PhD investigating the cardiovascular adaptation to pregnancy at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and the University of Sydney in 2000. After completing a fellowship in echocardiography in Leuven Belgium, Lisa returned to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.
Lisa remains involved with teaching students and advanced trainees, particularly in the areas of echocardiography, imaging for structural heart disease and cardiovascular disease in pregnancy.
Lisa Simmons provides general cardiology care and has particular expertise in structural heart disease and echocardiography.
The practice provides prompt and appropriate care with rapid communication with the referring doctor. ECG, stress tests, echocardiography and stress echocardiography are performed on site. In-patient care is provided at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. Close liaison with other specialists allows further assessment when required.
